In life, we are constantly playing a game of love. In order to find love, one must be able to communicate. Thanks to the Internet, we now have new opportunities to connect and communicate. Websites, forums, blogs and chatting all give us a chance to meet new people, and perhaps even fall in love. However, have we become so dependent on the revolutions of the Internet that people would rather love online than seek true love for themselves off of the computer monitor?
Dating sites dependency
Dating sites have seen huge success in the past few years. Specializing in helping you find the one that is just for you, they have profile pages, quizzes, and questionnaires that can match you with others using that dating website. Allowing members to chat with each other, people can get to know one another, essentially communicate, and exchange contact information. There are millions of members on these sites, and for those that have problems meeting others in person they can be a great icebreaker. However, the people on these websites vs. those that actually meet are great. Some may become too dependent on dating websites and addicted to only communicating, or falling in love, with an Internet persona.
You can hide the real person you are
The digital goodies that have come with this age seem to be as addicting as cookies. Perhaps it is the ease of communication via the Internet that has turned people to the Internet in order to find new relationships. When you use the Internet, you can hide the real person you are. You can use a mask to wash out the bad things and make yourself higher than you actually may be. But perhaps this is what some people need. If they are unable to feel confident enough to talk or display their talents out with other people, they can share them online with the millions of others that can’t find people offline.
Substitute for the real thing
Cyber affairs are no excuse for the real thing and talking between one another. However, it can be a substitute when we are unable to find real love. It shouldn’t replace meeting people in person, but with the Internet’s advancements, it might become the only way to meet people if the technology gets “too advanced.”
