I really don’t know what is with teenagers these days. It’s hard to believe that my sister has grown up and now she takes her own decisions without asking for my advice like she once did.
Now all I know is that she’s coming home from school and refugees in her room where she’s spending all the afternoon. Well, she might get out for some food but quickly turns back. People, this is what I don’t understand: does her brain need no air? When I was like her, I was going out to meet friends face to face not meeting them through a 19 inch monitor! Every time I entered the room I found her doing the same thing: chatting online (I don’t know how many are friends from real life), using social networking sites (Facebook and Hi5) and sometimes playing or searching for something really informative.
With all these, I never criticized her and I tried to support her but she still finds me as an enemy, because every time I go in her room, she quickly hides her active window and opens another one saying that she’s not doing anything interesting. From my point of view, what should I believe? Is she just caught in this chat room trend like any other teenager? Should I pass over and let her do her stuff, or should I take a closer look in her activity by spying her? Are chat room conversations risky?
Till now, I didn’t take any protection measure and it has passed almost a year since my sister moved in with me and started changing her behavior and habits.
So my question is still open: are chat room conversations trendy or risky?

I feel like you do on this subject. There is plenty of good stuff out there to pile on our computers to make it safe but it is hard to stay ahead of the bad stuff. I’ve actually put some keystrokers on my computer that were supposed to protect my family. So your words are appreciated, but the picture is what caught my eye. It was perfect for the post.
