A recent survey was conduct by the National Campaign to Prevent Teen and Unplanned Pregnancy and CosmoGirl.com in order to reveal how many teens and young people are sending or posting online sexually suggestive text and images. The survey was conducted on 1280 respondents: 653 teens (13-19) and 627 young adults (20-26).

The dates from the survey revealed that

• 22% of teen girls

• 18% of teen boys

• 11% of young teen girls (13-16)

have posted or send nude/semi-nude pictures or videos of themselves.

Regarding the young adults that have sent or post nude/semi-nude pictures or videos of themselves, it seems that in this case the number increases:

• 56% of young adult woman

• 62% of young adult man

• 64% of young adults say that they have received such messages

More than that, from statistics we can find out to whom these messages were sent:

• 71% of teen girls and 67% of teen guys say they have sent the content to a boyfriend or girlfriend.

• 21% of teen girls and 39% of teen boys say they have sent it to someone they like and would like to date with

• 15% of teens who have sent or posted nude or semi-nude images of themselves say they have done so to someone they only knew online.

• 83% of young adult women and 75% of young adult men say they have sent the content to a boyfriend or girlfriend.

• 21% of young adult women and 30% of young adult men have sent it to someone they like and would like to date with

• 15% of young adult women and 23% of young adult men say they have done so to someone they only knew online.

These numbers are facts that we cannot ignore. We should better try to change something in these young people lives and their perceptions before is too late.
