You may love it, but your parents hate it, and usually there is nothing you can do about it. If you are trying to figure out why, here are some reasons why they might not altogether be very fond of Facebook.
- They tend to believe that any social networking site is like an online dating service and someone so “young” should not be exposed to that.
- They would much rather you spend your time reading rather than posting on walls.
- Most people tend to dislike whatever they don’t understand.
- They probably think that Facebook is a dangerous place where strangers could intrude on your privacy.
- If your parents are religious, they probably think Facebook is evil and it takes you farther away from God.
- Parents might dread that you would get addicted to Facebook and be online all the time, at the cost of your normal life and family-time.
- They might also feel that you are shutting them from your personal life, which also means that you have a personal life which you don’t want to talk to them about.
- They may also feel that your personal life and pictures should not be on display publicly.
- They might think that you would start neglecting your studies because of all the time that you spend on Facebook.
- Also, chances are that somebody is feeding them negative information and all the cons about Facebook which makes them dread it more.
If you are a parent, tell me, what is your impression regarding Facebook?

I feel like you do on this subject. There is plenty of good stuff out there to pile on our computers to make it safe but it is hard to stay ahead of the bad stuff. I’ve actually put some keystrokers on my computer that were supposed to protect my family. So your words are appreciated, but the picture is what caught my eye. It was perfect for the post.
