There are moments when parents forget to take in consideration that no surveillance on children while they are surfing on the Internet might have serious consequences. Imagine for example a full afternoon when you come home from work and your house is up side down. Do you take the time to stay with your child and learn him about how to search different thing on the Internet, how to avoid pop-ups, not to reveal private information to strangers? Even if you did this, believe me, you will never be aware of all the dangers going on the Internet.

That’s why I propose some topics to be take in consideration about parents.

Make researches and read reviews about games your child can play online accordingly to its age. It’s important to find constructive games that will open his imagination and to avoid violent games which can badly influence his behavior.

You can download and install a browser specifically created for kids who will protect children against porn, predators, and other Internet dangers.

There are some programs created to block or restrict access to specific applications (like chat, multimedia, etc), during specific hours. On the other side, you can choose to install filtering software, which will block access to websites that might contain inappropriate content.

Organize different websites for children on categories like: artistic, fun, puzzles, educative and your child will enjoy for hours. (http://www.kidsites.com/)

Take part to discussions in different forums with other parents and find out what are they doing to protect their children online while assuring them an educative and entertaining virtual world.

But the most important think is to talk to your child and explain the dangers that can be encounter over the Internet.

The World Wide Web has hundreds of ways to keep your child entertained and learning while clicking away at the computer. You only have to show him the way.

These days most of the children in westernized countries have access to the internet. With the increase in the presence of the children online, together, with easy access to personal information there have been serious questions about the privacy of the children in the virtual world. People all around are increasingly becoming concerned about the privacy and safety of children online.

The cyberspace makes for a manipulative environment for children. Marketers take the help of the internet to source a lot of information. There is little provision for security for children and there are a plethora of opportunities that are available to gather information from children putting their privacy at risk on the Internet. The internet has made it possible for children to explore foreign lands, interact with other children, and take part in interesting games. But certain aspects of the virtual world might not be safe. These various sites collect a lot of information from the children accessing their data. When a child has to register with any site, he/she needs to give out a lot of personal details. This information is often given out to other businesses that use it for their own purpose.

The personally identifiable information that is collected from children hampers with their privacy online. It is tough to have a harm free experience in the web. It is therefore imperative that every parent ensures that their children’s privacy in the internet is not jeopardized. There are policies to take care of the security of children online. It is important that these policies are adhered to in order to ensure the safety of children and their privacy while online. The Internet community has to keep it in mind that the online privacy of children should be respected, otherwise it stands to lose in a big way.

Knowing what has been viewed on the computer while you weren’t able to monitor it directly is something that many could find use in. Parents would be able to see what their children’s internet surfing habits are when they are at work. Employers could see if their employees are really doing work or if they are slacking on the job. Spouses could view each other’s activities, emails, and previously viewed websites. Maybe they aren’t so loyal after all. It doesn’t have to be all dreams when thinking about this, as there are several types of programs that can enable you to do this.

Programs known as web spy software can give you access to see where someone went on the Internet, and what they did while they were on certain sites. While some programs are paid software, with a little research, you can find web spy software that works just as well for free. These types of software will record Internet browsing and search history and save it in easy to process reports. The programs are usually invisible, even in program management software, so the user won’t even know it is installed. Passwords can also be set in place to limit access to those that might stumble upon finding the web spy software.

For those with children, web spy software is invaluable. It can tell you what websites your children have been on, where they have been chatting and if they have been viewing inappropriate material. Employers will find use in these types of programs as it will help decide whether or not an employee is being productive, or just losing you hundreds to thousands of dollars in wasted work hours. If you are worried about a spouse cheating on you, web spy programs can help settle this. View your spouse’s emails and chat keywords secretly and find out before it is too late.
